About the Role
The Charge Nurse at Al Zahra Hospital Dubai is responsible for planning and coordinating all unit activities, overseeing the nursing team, and ensuring that patient care is delivered safely and efficiently in accordance with AZHD policies and DHA standards. Furthermore, the role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to monitor staffing levels, and proactive management of patient acuity to ensure continuity of care. Moreover, the Charge Nurse will serve as a key liaison between physicians, patients, families, and nursing staff, driving quality improvement and patient satisfaction across the unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate day-to-day unit and ward activities to ensure smooth, patient-centred operations.
- Ensure all patient care is delivered in alignment with AZHD policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
- Monitor staffing levels and patient acuity to ensure adequate clinical resources at all times.
- Serve as a champion for the electronic medical record system and mentor staff in its effective use.
- Act as a liaison between physicians, patients, patient families, and clinical staff to promote effective communication.
- Support facility quality improvement initiatives using the PDSA performance improvement model.
- Monitor patient satisfaction surveys and implement improvement actions based on feedback.
- Complete performance appraisals for all nursing staff grades working within the unit.
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for nursing best practices specific to the ward.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary health team to ensure consistently high quality patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Nursing programme of a minimum duration of three (3) years, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Current valid nursing registration in country of training and/or last country of employment.
- Valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) Nursing License — current or eligibility to obtain.
- Minimum 4–5 years of post-registration nursing experience including supervisory or charge nurse duties.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in managing ward staffing, patient acuity, and quality improvement.
- Strong communication, mentoring, and performance management capabilities.
