Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) is currently seeking a Billing and Revenue Recovery Officer for their Billing and Recoveries department. Additionally, this full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced healthcare billing professionals to manage revenue cycle operations at one of the UAE’s largest tertiary hospitals.
About the Role
The Billing and Revenue Recovery Officer at SSMC is responsible for the identification, mitigation, and prevention of claim denials along with preparing reports on clinical disputes. Furthermore, the role involves assisting with day-to-day revenue cycle denial operations and supporting process improvement initiatives for coding, billing, and collections activities. Moreover, the successful candidate will serve as the Subject Matter Expert for clinical denials documentation and payer clinical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor compliance with contractual terms and agreements with insurance companies and DOH Guidelines
- Prepare and submit all patient invoices and claims electronically in a timely manner
- Conduct follow-up on claims that are unpaid, partially paid, or denied including appeals and resubmissions
- Organize, negotiate, and communicate clinical claim denials with internal staff and external insurance representatives
- Ensure DRG revisions are billed according to billing policy and maintain high productivity with accuracy
- Analyze and rebill late charges according to current policies and procedures
- Participate in external payer meetings presenting payer performance related to denials
- Identify trends that can lead to inappropriate denials and recommend process improvements
- Consult with physicians, coding, pharmacy, case management, and other departments for documentation support
- Present monthly denial performance with case studies and recommendations for improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or relevant field
- Minimum 5 years of healthcare customer service, claims, denials, appeals, or compliance experience
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle systems and third-party payer reimbursement
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding
- Clinical Coding Certification preferred; Master’s in Business Administration or Healthcare preferred
- Healthcare Certification (FHFMA or FACHE) preferred
- Experience in a large healthcare facility with training and staff development
