Dubai College believes that sport builds character, and the Basketball Coach plays a central role in helping students develop confidence, resilience, discipline, and teamwork. Working closely with the Director of Sport and the wider PE team, you will deliver high quality training, competitions, and enrichment experiences as part of the College’s Character Development Activities programme. This position involves supporting students across a wide range of abilities, ensuring sessions are purposeful, inclusive, and challenging. Key Responsibilities for Basketball Coach Dubai College Dubai, United Arab Emirates

• Plan and deliver basketball training sessions for students of different ages and ability levels. Focus on developing fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive positioning, as well as tactical awareness and physical conditioning.
• Coach school basketball teams during training sessions and competitive matches. Support students in local leagues, tournaments, and friendly fixtures against other schools.
• Work closely with the Director of Sport to align coaching with the College’s Character Development Activities programme. Emphasise values such as resilience, discipline, teamwork, and confidence both on and off the court.
• Create a positive, inclusive environment where every student feels encouraged to participate and improve. Adapt sessions to meet individual needs, from beginners to advanced players.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback. Maintain attendance records and communicate with the PE department about team selections, match schedules, and player development.
• Contribute to the wider life of the Dubai College community by attending sports events, supporting enrichment activities, and promoting a love for basketball. Finally, ensure all safeguarding and child protection policies are followed at all times.

Qualifications

You need a recognized basketball coaching qualification such as FIBA Level 1 or equivalent. Proven experience coaching children and young people in a school or club setting is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to work with students, parents, and colleagues. You should have a good understanding of age appropriate coaching methods and the ability to inspire players of all abilities. First aid certification is desirable. Candidates must be willing to undergo child protection screening including police checks from any country of residence in the past five years.
