About the Role

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Engineering specializing in Cybersecurity at American University in Dubai will teach undergraduate courses in computer engineering with a focus on cybersecurity, network security, and information assurance within the School of Engineering. Furthermore, the successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda in cybersecurity and contribute to program development and ABET accreditation efforts. Moreover, the professor will mentor students in research projects and support the department’s efforts to address the growing demand for cybersecurity expertise in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, network security, cryptography, and computer engineering fundamentals
• Develop and update course curricula and laboratory experiments aligned with ABET accreditation standards
• Maintain an active research agenda in cybersecurity and publish in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
• Supervise student capstone projects, research initiatives, and cybersecurity competitions
• Participate in department meetings, committees, and academic governance activities
• Contribute to program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement processes
• Develop partnerships with cybersecurity firms, government agencies, and industry professionals in the UAE
• Promote hands-on learning through cybersecurity labs, capture-the-flag events, and industry workshops
• Support interdisciplinary collaboration with IT, AI, and data science programs

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
• Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity, network security, or information assurance
• Active research record with publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
• Excellent English written and oral communication skills
• Professional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CISM are an advantage
• Industry experience in cybersecurity is highly valued
