About the Role

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Engineering specializing in Artificial Intelligence at American University in Dubai will teach undergraduate courses in AI, machine learning, and computer engineering within the School of Engineering. Moreover, the professor will mentor students in AI-related projects and support the university’s growing AI and data science initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate courses in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and computer engineering fundamentals
• Develop and update course curricula and lab exercises aligned with ABET accreditation standards
• Maintain an active research agenda in AI and publish in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and conferences
• Supervise student capstone projects, research initiatives, and AI hackathons
• Participate in department meetings, committees, and academic governance activities
• Contribute to program assessment, accreditation reviews, and continuous improvement processes
• Develop partnerships with AI companies, tech startups, and industry professionals in the UAE
• Promote hands-on learning through AI labs, real-world datasets, and industry case studies
• Support interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering, business, and communication programs

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
• Demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or deep learning
• Active research record with publications in peer-reviewed journals and AI conferences
• Excellent English written and oral communication skills
• Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar tools
• Industry experience in AI or data science is highly valued
