Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and sign them in for their appointments.
  • Fill out patient forms and put details in the EMR system.
  • Update patient info in the EMR at each visit, following hospital rules.
  • Check payment types and add financial details to the EMR correctly.
  • Keep patient records and consents fresh every six months.
  • Tell walk-in patients how long they’ll wait to improve their visit.
  • Scan papers into the EMR to keep records full.
  • Check insurance cards against the hospital’s billing list.
  • Set up appointments and tie them to patient files in the EMR.
  • Call patients to confirm appointments and sort out changes or cancellations.
  • Answer phone calls and explain appointment steps clearly.
  • Put charges and orders in the EMR, working with insurance and finance teams.
  • Take payments, give receipts, and make daily cashier reports.
  • Answer billing questions and explain charges not covered by insurance.
  • Keep the workspace clean and help with office tasks in the Medical Imaging Department.

Requirements

Education

A High School Diploma is needed. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a similar field is a plus.

Experience

2–3 years working as a receptionist or customer service staff in a hospital or healthcare setting is needed.

Skills

  • Friendly people skills and ability to handle payments.
  • Good at juggling multiple phone lines.
  • Clear English, both written and spoken.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email tools.
