The University of Sharjah is seeking to hire an Associate Professor American Literature to commence his/her duties in August 2024. The position requires a PhD holder in American Literature from a native English speaking country. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to teach undergraduate American literature courses, and translation courses (English/Arabic). The candidate should also have a solid record of high quality publications relevant to his/her qualification published in Scopus.
Duties of Associate Professor American Literature
- Teaching 12 credit hours to undergraduate and postgraduate students per semester.
- Contributing to the university core curriculum.
- Supervising graduation projects if any.
- Supervising MA theses.
- Contributing to various committees at the department, college, and university levels.
- Contributing to the research profile of the department & college through innovative and interdisciplinary research publications.
- Contributing or leading activities related to program accreditation and quality assurance.
- Contributing to any other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of the Department.
Requirements of Associate Professor American Literature
The requirements for the job of Associate Professor American Literature are as under
- PhD in American Literature from a recognized and an accredited university by the UAE Ministry of Education.
- A minimum of 6 years of teaching experience after obtaining the PhD in American Literature.
- Experience in teaching American literature and English Arabic Translation courses.
- Experience in supervising MA theses in Translation is an advantage.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Must be a graduate of an English speaking country.
- Evidence of an earned Associate rank from a recognized and an accredited university.
- Evidence of relevant research published in Scopus indexed journals.
