Job Description

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City  is seeking an experienced Consultant Ophthalmology in Ajman, UAE. The selected candidate will join the Surgery Department in Sheikh Khalifa Hospital. The ideal candidate has a background in General Ophthalmology and experience with emergency ophthalmology patients. Sub specialization within the anterior segment including cataract surgery is preferred.

Role of Consultant Ophthalmology

Perform, direct and supervise the day to day activities of the Ophthalmology service. Maintain the quality of service within the established guideline while ensuring high quality patient care.

Responsibilities of Consultant Ophthalmology

  • Do routine Outpatient department (OPD) check ups.
  • Perform tests on patients.
  • Instruct and guide the Ophthalmology residents and junior staff.
  • Perform eye operations.
  • Perform laser treatments of eyes.
  • Participate in study of special cases.
  • Stay up to date about the new medications and interventions in the field of ophthalmology.
  • Participate in weekly rounds.
  • Make recommendations to the HOD about improvement of standards and services.

Education & Experience Required for Consultant Ophthalmology

  • MBBs or Equivalent along with specialization in the field of Ophthalmology.
  • Must be an experienced Consultant with at least 5 years post Specialty Board.

  • Knowledge of recent developments in the field of Ophthalmology.
  • Decision making skills.
  • Effective Communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Medical Ethics.
