Responsibilities of Kitchen Helpers

  • Assist kitchen staff in food preparation, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats and assembling ingredients for dishes.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations according to established hygiene and safety standards.
  • Wash, peel and slice fruits and vegetables for use in salads, garnishes, and other culinary creations.
  • Organize and stock kitchen inventory, including dry goods, spices, condiments, and cooking oils, ensuring adequate supply levels for daily operations.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries, checking for quality and freshness, and properly rotating stock to minimize waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen area, including sweeping and mopping floors, removing trash, and wiping down surfaces.
  • Follow recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines provided by chefs and kitchen supervisors to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation.
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to expedite orders, plate dishes, and coordinate meal service during peak hours.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations, temperature control guidelines, and sanitation protocols to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses.
  • Assist with special projects, catering events, and other kitchen-related tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements of Kitchen Helpers

  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience of 1-2 years in a kitchen environment, culinary school education, or relevant food service experience is preferred but not required.

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Basic knowledge of food handling procedures, kitchen equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions from chefs, cooks, and kitchen supervisors.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality, with a willingness to learn and adapt to evolving kitchen procedures and standards.
  • Positive attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to take on various kitchen responsibilities to support the team.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the restaurant’s operating hours and business demands.
