Purpose of A Ward Attender

Assist in the delivery of patient care as directed by the registered nurse. Contribute to the general environment of the hospital well being of the patient as a member of the nursing team.

Duties of A Ward Attender

• To escort patient in Radiology department into ultrasound room.
• To attend the needs of the patient during their stay.
• To liaise with the ward department and clinic staff to carry instructions and messages related to the patient’s care.
• To prepare the patient as prescribed procedure and verify the patient identification.
• To enter patient details using machine worklist in the ultrasound machine, last menstrual period of the patient and number of fetuses.
• To ensure the order and arrived of the patient details in the HIS Radiology Arrival and verifying the history, consultation, indication and previous scans in the Patient EMR and images in PACS system for comparison.
• From the arrival status change to conduction completed.
• To ensure all images are completely save and sent in the PACS system and ultrasound calculation report are saved in the ultrasound machine.
• To keep the patient beds, ultrasound probes, ultrasound9 machine clean and ready for use.
• To help with the movement of patients in the examination rooms.
• To assist and helping the patient cleaning the gels used.
• Demonstrates good bed making skills and ensures patients bed linen is changed daily at a minimum and more when required.
• To transport with care the ultrasound machine in various department for the bedside scan.
• Ensures quantity of patient linen is sufficient on a daily basis.
• Inventorying the number of linens used.
• Responsible for cleaning of Radiology equipment/surfaces and daily dusting.
• Transfers patients from bed to stretcher/wheelchair as needed in the scan.
• Provides excellent customer service to patients and families.
• Monitoring and ensuring the consumables is sufficient in daily basis.
• To report any damage or malfunction in the machine to immediate Radiology In-charge.
• Demonstrates correct infection control practices.
• Responsible for attending mandatory trainings as specified by the Organization.
• Assists colleagues, Supervisors, shift leaders or team members when not busy.

Qualification & Experience

• High School Degree.
• 1-2 years of experience in same role.

Knowledge & Skills Desired

• Ability to work flexible shift following the schedule of the Radiologist Doctor’s.
• Good command of oral and written English. Spoken Arabic advantageous.
• Ability to multitask within the team and possess good interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and in a team.
• Demonstrates knowledge and practice of confidentiality policy.
• Must possess the ability to follow directions with and without supervision.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff regarding continuous improvement.
