Responsibilities of Waiter/Waitress

  • Greet and seat guests in a friendly and welcoming manner, providing menus and explaining daily specials or promotions.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, using suggestive selling techniques to upsell menu items and enhance the dining experience.
  • Enter orders into the POS system promptly and accurately, ensuring special requests and dietary restrictions are communicated to the kitchen staff.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring accuracy and presentation meet company standards.
  • Check in with guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction, address any concerns or requests, and offer dessert or additional beverages as appropriate.
  • Clear tables efficiently and reset them for the next guests, maintaining cleanliness and order in the dining area.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down dining areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and restocking supplies.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to coordinate food and beverage service and ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, processing payments and reconciling cash drawers at the end of each shift.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, as well as company policies and procedures, to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for guests and staff.

Requirements of Waiter/Waitress

  • High school diploma in relevant field.
  • Previous experience of 1-2 years as a waiter/waitress or in a customer service role preferred but not required; training will be provided for entry level candidates.

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and coworkers.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to provide exceptional service to guests.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency in using POS systems or cash registers.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage terminology, menu items, and wine pairings is an asset.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities and guest preferences.
