Train Driver Team Leader Etihad Rail Abu Dhabi

Train Driver Team Leader is a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, reliable & efficient movement of trains on Etihad Rail network. Responsibilities encompass not only the expert operation of locomotives but also leadership & supervision of a team of Train Drivers. Role holder will play a key role in maintaining safety, optimizing performance & fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the Train Operations department.

Responsibilities of Train Driver Team Leader

Following are the responsibilities of Train Driver Team Leader:-

General Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of Train Drivers, ensuring their punctuality, reliability, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Take charge of driving locomotives and overseeing the mechanical operation of trains, including train speed and handling.
• Promote a culture of safety by maintaining a high profile in advocating safe working conditions and practices.
• Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors operating on the Etihad Rail infrastructure.
• Oversee the safe, reliable, and punctual movement of trains, both in normal and degraded circumstances.
• Provide input to Training team to deliver training plans to continuously enhance the skills and knowledge of new entrants to the Train Driver team.
• Identify and address equipment faults and failures promptly, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Provide real-time updates and information on performance and safety-related matters to the Train Operations Supervisor.
• Liaise with customer facility staff as necessary to support safe and reliable railway operations.
• Perform On-Call response duties as required by Etihad Rail terms and conditions, ensuring swift and effective response during emergencies.
• Support the training and development of new entrants to the railway industry.
• Maintain current train driver competence, staying informed about industry developments and best practices.
• Carry out shunting and train preparation duties as required to deliver the maintenance and service plan, contributing to the overall operational efficiency.
• Adapt to a flexible shift pattern as directed by the business to meet operational requirements effectively.
• Performance role of an Incidence Officer during the degrades and emergencies.

Safety Responsibilities

• To comply with those elements of the company’s environment, health and safety management system and other company documents where specific responsibility is identified with the role or as a general requirement on all employees

Security Responsibilities

• Being aware of the current policies and procedures and their responsibilities for protecting corporate assets;
• Using corporate resources only for intended purposes as defined by policies and procedures of Etihad Rail.
• Being accountable for their actions relating to their use of all assets.

Requirements of Train Driver Team Leader

• Qualification: Possess a valid Train Driver’s license and a proven track record of successful train driving.
• Knowledge of applicable discipline based railway standards.
• Knowledge of European Train Control System (ETCS).
• Knowledge of competence management systems.
• Experience: 2+ years of previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a railway or transportation environment.
• Experience in risk assessment and safe systems of work.
• Experience in incident investigations.
• Current competence in Rail Incident Officer duties.
• Current competency in train driving.
