Job Purpose of A Senior Technologist

To provide expert guidance and leadership in the application of technology to solve complex problems and drive innovation within an organization.

Job Duties of A Senior Technologist

  • Set up and assist with specialized procedures in all areas of medical imaging.
  • Coordinates all types of sedation cases within the medical imaging department.
  • Assists with cardiac stress testing as required.
  • Maintains specific documentation on all nursing procedures performed in the department in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Coordinates/assists in the transfer of inpatients to and from the department.
  • Ensures the patient is handed over from the ward to medical imaging (and vice versa) in accordance with hospital policy regarding patient handover.
  • Assists in code blue response in the medical imaging department.
  • Follow up on patients that have had allergic reactions to contrast as well as extravasation of contrast medium during medical imaging study.
  • Scheduling of inpatients studies.
  • Maintains statistical data for the purpose of research.
  • Assists with complaints and incidents surrounding clinical areas.
  • Develops patient education material for medical imaging procedures.
  • Shares knowledge & skills with colleagues and others.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Understands and prioritizes the needs of patients and time-specific needs.

What You Will Do More?

  • Participates in education and in-service for hospital staff in regard to medical imaging procedures.
  • Demonstrates skills in continual assessment of the patient, and family’s physical and psychological needs and ability to document under the guidance of JCIA standards.
  • Demonstrates skill in coordination and planning of care / clinical pathway, and prioritizing care, based on individual needs.
  • Revises the care plan as necessary within the scope of JCIA standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to render care and services based on specific unit specialties, age appropriateness and the developmental needs of the patient.
  • Performs nursing interventions/procedures in accordance with established standards of care and policy and procedures.
  • Assists medical imaging colleagues with diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in accordance with departmental policy and procedure.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

  • 3-4 year General Nursing Diploma / Bachelors degree in degree.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of recent experience in same role.
  • Previous experience in catheterization of adult and paediatric patients.
  • Adult & paediatric cannulation experience.

Certification & licensing

  • BCLS certification.
  • Current license to practice nursing.
