Job Description
The British School Al Khubairat is looking to employ a Short Term Temporary Mathematics Teacher. This is a short term temporary role with immediate start until 31st August 2024. The job was announced by the school on January 26, 2024. Candidate desirous for the role should submit their application now.
Responsibilities of Mathematics Teacher
- Promoting excellence in teaching and learning to ensure all students develop to their full potential and are equipped for life beyond school.
- Exemplifying best practice in own classroom and sharing good practice throughout the department.
- Taking part in the regular review and development of schemes of work, keeping up to date with current educational initiatives with your own subject and beyond, ensuring that excellent practice and high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
- Identifying own training needs and attending INSET in consultation with the Head of Department, and disseminating as required.
- Planning effectively, ensuring lessons provide pace, motivation, and challenge.
- Setting tasks which are imaginative, interesting, and demanding.
- Differentiating and extending work as appropriate, working closely with the Learning Support department as required.
- Following whole school and departmental policies relating to the marking of student’s work, and the assessment, recording, and reporting of students’ attainment.
- Maintaining a stimulating and meaningful display of students’ work, ensuring that it is regularly updated and relevant to topics being taught.
- Attending departmental meetings as required.
What Will You Do More As A Teacher
- Maintaining classroom discipline, employing sanctions when necessary, in accordance with the school behavior policy.
- Taking registration, in accordance with whole school policy.
- Being responsible for the pastoral provision and support for the students in your care.
- Being proactive in communicating with parents regarding both pastoral and academic issues.
- Carrying out morning break and lunchtime duties as required.
- Providing lunchtime and co curricular activities as required.
- Joining in with and being supportive of school events and activities generally.
- Covering the lessons of absent staff as required.
- Providing work in the case of own absence.
- Teaching lessons in non specialist subject areas as required.
- Developing and maintaining good relationships with parents and the local community.
- Attending parents’ evenings as required.
- Undertaking any other duties that may reasonably be requested by the Headmaster.
Job Requirements of Mathematics Teacher
- The candidate will be a UK qualified teacher with either a Bachelor of Education degree or a subject related degree, plus a PGCE.
- The candidate should possess a minimum three year relevant subject teaching experience in Mathematics, with the ability to teach A Level up to Year 13 being essential.
- The ability to teach Further Math’s at A Level would be desirable but not essential.
