Aldar Education is currently seeking an outstanding Teacher of MFL for the Middle and Senior School at Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing in the 2024-2025 academic year. Responsibilities of Teacher MFL

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Teamwork and collaboration.

  • Working alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the curriculum.
  • Liaising with colleagues professionally and working flexibly.
  • Working with parents to ensure the happiness and best academic outcomes for all students.
  • Working cooperatively with curriculum support staff (where applicable) to support student development.
  • Acting as a form tutor and supporting the pastoral needs of students.

Teaching and Learning:

  • A clear understanding of the British curriculum from Year 6 to Year 13.
  • Ability to teach French and Spanish from Year 6 to Year 13.
  • Organising classroom provision, learning resources, and creating displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Planning, preparing, and presenting sessions that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the classes taught.
  • Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative teaching.
  • Observing and assessing children in line with the school assessment policy.
  • Being reflective of the classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made, and adjusting environment, planning, and curriculum to reflect this.
  • Ensuring the Mamoura British Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes are being embedded throughout the curriculum.

Assessment and Data:

  • Taking responsibility for the progress of classes taught.
  • Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of students’ development using the school’s designated assessment system.
  • Using data provided by assessments to influence further planning, provision, and intervention.
  • Providing feedback to parents and carers on a student’s progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.

Behaviour Management and Duties:

  • To follow and proactively implement the school’s Behaviour Policy.
  • Managing classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students’ needs in order to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with pupils, exercising appropriate authority, and acting decisively when necessary within the school’s Behaviour Policy.
  • Being a positive role model and demonstrating consistently the positive attitudes, values, and behaviour, which are expected of pupils.
  • Having high expectations of behaviour, promoting self control and independence of all learners.
  • Ensuring the Mamoura Values DNA language and attitudes are being embedded throughout the curriculum.
  • Carrying out duties as directed and within the school’s policy.

Wider Professional Responsibilities:

  • To work as part of a department team, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special events linked to that team.
  • Supporting the organising and taking part in school events, outings, and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening.
  • Communicating effectively with parents/carers with regards to students’ achievements and well being using school systems/processes such as CPOMS as appropriate.
  • Making a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  • Running a weekly ECA each term.

Job Requirements of Teacher MFL

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Bachelor Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience in English National Curriculum.
  • Experience of working in more than one International School desirable.
  • Experience of teaching the UK National Curriculum.
