Role of System Support Specialist

At American Hospital Dubai (UAE), the job role of an IT System / Desktop Support Specialist is to provide end user support, Trouble shooting both Hardware and Software, Preparation and installation of Client PCs and Printers and related Hardware equipment for end-users.  The IT System Specialist will be responsible for Periodical data back-ups, Assisting Systems Administrator on network related issues,  Assisting DBA on database related activities and Attending all levels of user calls from Help Desk.

Responsibilities of System Support Specialist

  • Serve as a Help Desk Support Staff for the entire hospitals IT related user calls.
  • Assist Systems Administrator and DBA as and when required for their day to day Operational Requirements.
  • Preparation and Installation of Client PCs for HIS or non-HIS users with proper Check-listing procedure.
  • Attend calls from Help Desk for end-user first level support.
  • Assist Systems Administrator on network related activities.
  • Assist DBA on database related activities.
  • Execute Periodic (daily, weekly & monthly) Backups.
  • Fine tuning of client PCs for Optimum performance and Maintaining uniformity among all PCs.
  • Documentation all user calls with proper communication with Supervisor.

What you’ll do

  • Train end-users on basic usage of PCs.
  • Maintain backup of all client specific files.
  • Assisting department secretary for periodical Hardware / Software inventory.
  • Suggest Enhancements in Hardware for local and Network systems.
  • Undergo training on all new systems & platforms.
  • Attend the required QI training programs to comply with JCIA Requirements.
  • As an IT Help Desk Officer screen all users’ calls on Help Desk number and forward to Appropriate staff member.

Qualifications

  • Degree / Diploma in Computer Hardware & Networking.
  • Professional Qualification in PC trouble shooting.
  • MS-MCP is preferable.

Professional Experience

  • At least three (3) years of recent Hardware, Software & Networking support.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent English verbal and written Communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Networking.
  • Knowledge of Database concepts.
