Aldar Academies is seeking a Swimming Instructor for Bateen World Academy commencing Immediately. The selected candidate is responsible to foster an environment conducive to outstanding Learning and Teaching in the discipline of swimming within an international school. Responsibilities of Swimming Instructor
- Define clear teaching objectives and outcomes, specifying effective methods for teaching and assessment.
- Plan and deliver engaging activities that challenge students and maintain high levels of interest.
- Set appropriate expectations, clear targets, and build on students’ prior attainment.
- Identify and plan for students with specific needs, including those with SEN or exceptional abilities.
- Scaffold learning to ensure a dynamic pace, sustained motivation, and continuous challenge.
- Utilize effective assessment strategies and ensure comprehensive coverage of programs of study.
- Make proficient use of performance data and key indicators to inform planning, delivering differentiated learning to meet diverse needs.
- Optimize teaching time effectively while maintaining a conducive learning environment, addressing punctuality, behavior, and homework standards.
- Employ a variety of teaching methods, tailoring approaches to content, structuring information, and utilizing appropriate vocabulary.
- Incorporate effective questioning techniques, attentive listening, and corrective feedback to address errors and misconceptions.
- Select relevant learning resources and foster study skills through library, I.C.T., and other learning technologies.
- Ensure students acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills, and understanding relevant to the subject of swimming.
- Conduct critical self evaluation of teaching methods to continually improve effectiveness.
- Ensure the efficient deployment of classroom support for enhanced learning experiences.
Roles & Responsibilities of Swimming Instructor:
- Collaborate with the PE department to support the delivery of lessons within the school curriculum, contributing expertise to the whole school, not limited to swimming.
- Develop and implement extra curricular provisions, including the establishment and nurturing of swim squads.
- Spearhead the preparation of students for readiness competitions in swimming across the region. • Foster teamwork and collaboration among school staff and be a strong communicator at all levels.
- Demonstrate commitment to cultivating positive relationships within the school community.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that align with the curriculum requirements.
- Liaise with colleagues and demonstrate flexibility in working arrangements.
- Work closely with parents to ensure the well being and academic success of all students.
- Collaborate effectively with curriculum support staff, where applicable, to support children’s holistic development.
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting:
- Develop and implement a robust swimming assessment framework and rubric that facilitates progression and success.
- Evaluate the achievement of learning outcomes, using insights to enhance specific aspects of teaching.
- Assess and mark students’ work, establishing targets for continuous progress. • Utilize performance data to inform planning, ensuring ongoing improvement in Learning and Teaching effectiveness.
- Systematically assess and record students’ progress, maintaining records to gauge comprehension, identify strengths and areas for development, and inform future planning.
- Conduct assessments as required by examination bodies, adhering to departmental and academy procedures.
- Prepare and deliver informative reports to parents.
Curriculum Development:
- Participate in the development of the swimming curriculum, creating plans with clear targets and success criteria for its enhancement and maintenance.
- Contribute to the overall visioning activities of the entire academy.
Other Professional Requirements:

- Adhere consistently to the academy’s policies and practices.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of swimming subjects and specialisms to facilitate effective teaching.

- Collaborate with fellow staff to ensure the shared and efficient utilization of resources for the benefit of the academy, department, and students.

- Engage in marketing and liaison activities, including Open evenings/afternoons, Parent Teacher Consultations, and events with partner academies.
- Take ownership of professional development and fulfill duties in alignment with academy policies and practices.
- Communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders across the school community.
Job Requirements of Swimming Instructor
- Swimming Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years Teaching experience.
- Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language.
