Job Description

SVP & Head of Internal Communications at First Abu Dhabi Bank is responsible to develop a comprehensive internal communications service at FAB to deliver the Group’s strategic messages and provide all employees with regular, meaningful, and consistent information and two-way engagement opportunities to thrive at FAB. This is a critical role working with the entire Executive Committee at FAB to effectively communicate a sense of purpose across the Group and manage change effectively.

Responsibilities of SVP & Head of Internal Communications

  • Design and implement an enterprise-wide internal communication strategy for the group.
  • Advise and coach leaders on their leadership communication plans and define minimum standard for leaders on communication.
  • Provide guidance to our senior leadership about how we effectively and cohesively share internal messages and key themes aligned to the Group strategy.
  • Define FAB Message House and build the narrative around it.
  • Lead content development for communication for the Group.
  • Develop and manage external reports for the Group.
  • Translate strategic activity into program, messages and activities that are relevant at a departmental and individual level.
  • Define and develop a range of two way engagement and communication channels to deliver messages most effectively to different audiences and countries where we operate.
  • Develop diverse communication channels, e.g., intranet, social media, print, digital screens, email as the appropriate means for communicating with staff depending on the nature and context of different communications.
  • Deliver communications tailored to different internal audiences in such a way that the message can be communicated most effectively.
  • Develop the communications framework further to provide a clear and effective guide to employee communications at FAB.

What You’ll Do More?

  • Measure the effectiveness of all internal communication program and processes to assess whether they are meeting the needs of our colleagues and develop an agile model to make improvements where necessary.
  • Work hand in hand with Group HR to contribute to increasing employee engagement at FAB throughout the year.
  • Build and foster relationships across business functions to understand requirements.
  • Work with the wider team in building a listening culture and build feedback mechanisms into internal communications.
  • Manage the delivery and planning of the Bank’s Internal communications events, both virtually and face to face.
  • Providing editorial advice and oversight for all internal communications content aligning with broad communications strategy and key messages/narrative.
  • Providing guidance to broader content team (agency) and editors in other businesses.
  • Stakeholder relationships (agencies): Maintaining continuous coordination with external agencies and ensure finalization of content as per FAB communication standards.
  • Maintain a good understanding of industry best practice and new technological opportunities that can add business value to enhance our overall employee experience at FAB.

Requirements of SVP & Head of Internal Communications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Media and Communications or relevant field is a must.
  • Previous experience as an internal communication lead for a similar organization would be a strong advantage with a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience.

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • The candidate must also have a strong understanding of digital employee collaboration tools, a working knowledge of communicating behavioral data analysis and comfortable communicating this with Tech and non Tech teams across the Bank.
  • A highly articulate individual with excellent written communications and confident presentation skills are essential.
  • A proven ability to lead communications strategies, including the supporting digital communications eco system.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and engage and motivate teams representing diverse backgrounds and viewpoints.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including the ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Must possess very strong written and verbal English communication skills.
