Accountabilities Of Superintendent Marine Engineering
- Receive, review, and endorse ship requests for repairs and where required, ensure supervision of such repairs.
- Ensure compliance with class and International Marine Organization (IMO), OCIMF / ISGOTT and ICS rules and recommendations while remaining within budgeted costs and time frame.
- Supervise and contribute to the dry docking process through overseeing the preparation of ships’ dry dock and / or afloat repair specifications.
- Analysing tendering documents and assist in supervising dry docking repairs (Superintendent, Marine Projects (Dry Dock).
- Ensure the performance is in alignment with budgeted costs and company and industry standards.
- Ensure planned maintenance schedules and that ship certifications are renewed as required.
- Ensure equipment longevity and operation, in line with standards.
- Ensure the completion/supervision of any maintenance work, including acquisition of equipment / spare part required in maintenance in line with standards and procedures to meet fleet requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
- Intervenes to maintain high technical standards, thereby ensuring the technical efficiency, cost control and safety of vessel.
- Monitor Inventory Material Management consumption of relevant stores, spare parts, fuel, lube oils and chemicals.
- Carry out technical inspections of the ships’ machinery, equipment, structures and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry practice and safe operations.
Minimum Qualification
The eligibility requirements for the role of Superintendent Marine Engineering are as under:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent from a recognized institution or foreign going CoC (Class 1) (motor or steam) or equivalent qualification.
- At least 8 years of experience, progressing to the rank of Senior Officer or Chief Engineer.
- 1 year as a technical superintendent or an equivalent experience.
- Experience on Tug boats (Offshore and Ports vessels).
