The Strategic Planning Officer supports the Head of Strategic Planning in the development and execution of the university’s strategic planning initiatives. The responsibilities include collaborating with key stakeholders, conducting analyses, and ensuring alignment with the institution’s mission, vision, and goals. The role involves fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to enhance the university’s overall effectiveness and competitiveness. The post holder will work flexibly to accommodate the requirements of this role and will be expected to be competent in the ERP system by Naseej. Furthermore, the successful applicant should also have strong communication skills with academics and staff.

Responsibilities of Strategic Planning Officer

  • Strategic Planning: Support the Head of Strategic Planning in developing and implementing the university’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and long term goals.
  • Collaborate with university leadership, departments, and key stakeholders to gather input and ensure broad engagement in the strategic planning process.
  • Data Analysis and Research: Help conduct data analysis and research to inform strategic decision making.
  • Help identify key trends, opportunities, and challenges in higher education and relevant industries to guide the university’s strategic direction.
  • SWOT Analysis: Facilitate SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analyses to assess the internal and external factors influencing the university’s strategic position.
  • Goal Setting and Metrics: Support in defining measurable goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of strategic initiatives.
  • Help establish a framework for monitoring and evaluating progress toward strategic goals.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate the strategic plan to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with departments and units to ensure understanding and alignment with strategic priorities
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the university.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and organizational efficiency.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports on the progress of the strategic plan.

Job Requirements of Strategic Planning Officer

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in higher education administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in academic institutions, a wealth of knowledge and understanding about the University of Khorfakkan’s strategic plans, and a deep understanding of current colleges, departments, and sections.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Project management experience.
