Job Description
Retailing industry is currently seeking a diligent and organized individual to join their team as a Store keeper. This role is integral in maintaining efficient inventory management and ensuring the smooth operation of their warehouse or storeroom.
Responsibilities of Store Keeper
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments of goods and supplies, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders or packing slips.
- Organize and maintain inventory records, including tracking stock levels, updating databases or inventory systems, and generating reports as needed.
- Label and store items in designated locations within the warehouse or storeroom, ensuring proper storage methods and conditions to prevent damage or deterioration.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed, anticipating demand and ensuring adequate stock levels to meet operational requirements.
- Perform regular inventory audits and cycle counts to reconcile discrepancies, identify shortages or overages, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Prepare and package items for shipment or delivery, including picking and packing orders, labeling packages, and coordinating with shipping carriers or delivery drivers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse or storeroom, including sweeping floors, clearing debris, and disposing of waste materials properly.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines for handling hazardous materials, operating equipment, and storing inventory to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, and other departments to coordinate receiving, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies.
Requirements of Store Keeper
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in inventory management or related field is a plus.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Previous experience of 1-2 years as a storekeeper, warehouse clerk, or similar role preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
Skills and Knowledge Desired
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping and inventory management tasks.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technology tools.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and other departments.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures for handling and storing inventory, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and operational needs.
