Responsibilities

  • Look over blueprints and specs to figure out rebar needs.
  • Cut and bend steel bars with tools like shears or benders.
  • Tie or weld rebar to make strong frameworks for concrete.
  • Place rebar in formwork so it’s ready for concrete pours.
  • Use spacers to keep rebar in the right spot.
  • Work with engineers and crew to stick to project plans.
  • Double-check rebar sizes and spacing against designs.
  • Keep tools in good shape and report any problems.
  • Tidy up work areas to keep the site safe and smooth.
  • Stick to safety rules to avoid mishaps on site.
  • Tell supervisors about any issues with materials or plans.
  • Help figure out rebar amounts or schedules when asked.
  • Check rebar setups to make sure they’re solid.
  • Fix rebar layouts if supervisors say so.
  • Handle extra tasks as needed by site bosses.

Requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent. A trade certificate in steel fixing or construction is a bonus.

Experience

2-3 years as a Steel Fixer on construction sites, with steady, dependable work.

Skills

  • Good with rebar tools like cutters and benders.
  • Eye for detail to get rebar placement right.
  • Clear talker to work with supervisors and crew.
  • Can handle tough schedules and tight deadlines.
  • Strong enough to lift heavy steel bars.
