Mashreq is currently seeking suitable candidate for position of Standard Products & Training Advisory Manager. The job holder is responsible to manage the vertical for Advisory, Standard Products & Shari’ah Training within the Division which entails providing Shari’ah advisory on existing and new Islamic products & related SOPs/ PPGs/ systems, IT, Ops documents etc. Managing Shari’ah training function for the bank.

Responsibilities of Standard Products & Training Advisory Manager

  • Provide Shari’ah advisory to Corporate, Retail, International Banking, and Treasury teams for development of new standard Islamic products, and enhancement/ changes in existing products.
  • Develop concept paper of new Islamic products for presenting to approving authorities.
  • Review from Shari’ah concept the SOPs / PPGs/ Accounting/ IT Systems, and Operational matters related to Islamic products.
  • Develop and maintain the manuals for Advisory: Standard Products as well as the Shari’ah Training functions.
  • Review NPPA requests and timely provide recommendations to the Division Head.
  • Work with Business/ Product and Legal teams for preparation of legal documents or amendments to the existing documents in light with Shari’ah compliance requirements.
  • Review the Bank’s SOPs from Shari’ah perspective to incorporate Shari’ah requirements emanating from CBUAE/ HSA regulations, AAOIFI Shari’ah Standards, or the Internal Shari’ah Supervision Committee (ISSC) instructions.
  • Respond to product related queries and troubleshoot on day-to-day basis. Managing clients’ queries on Shari’ah related matters.
  • Work closely with Shari’ah Governance, Business/ Product, CAD, IT, and Ops to deploy new developments, improvements or enhancements in the back office in compliance with Shari’ah requirements.
  • Review the GLs before each profit payment activity when requested by CAD.
  • Act as the contact point from the division with Mashreq Capital for providing advisory on the Mashreq Al Islami Income Fund within Mashreq Capital, along with review of related documents, manuals, and SOPs.
  • Obtain Executive Member approval on financial instruments for the purpose of investment/ marketing without taking role.

Requirements of Standard Products & Training Advisory Manager

The requirements of Standard Products & training Advisory Manager are as under:

  • Should hold at least a bachelor’s degree/ professional qualification in business/ banking.
  • 7-10 years plus experience in an Islamic Bank in Product Development/ Shari’ah Compliance Department.

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Should have significant exposure to Shari’ah principles via studies, courses or extensive on the job learning.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail is required.
  • Strong communication skills, as bank-wide interaction on technical issues are required.
  • Command on MS office.
  • Arabic proficiency is a big plus.
