The British School Al Khubairat

The British School Al Khubairat is looking to employ a full time Sport Director, to commence September 2024. The successful candidate will oversee the development and implementation of both the School’s Physical Education and Sporting provision across the whole school, Early Years through to Sixth Form, effectively combining both in order to deliver high quality opportunities to all students.

Responsibilities of Sport Director

  • Take registration, in accordance with the whole school policy.
  • Provide morning, lunchtime, and after school co curricular activities as required.
  • Be prepared to take part in school trips and visits as required.
  • Attend parents’ evenings as required.
  • Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be requested by the Headmaster.
  • To lead and manage a large team, achieving the best from every single member of staff.
  • To empower, promote, encourage others and hold staff to account in order to provide the very best PE and Sports provision to every student.
  • To think creatively to offer solutions to challenges and find sporting opportunities for students and staff to benefit from.
  • To promote the link between sport and wellbeing and actively engage all students, from all demographics, to ensure that they participate and benefit from being involved in sport.

Job Requirements of Sport Director

  • Candidates will be UK qualified teachers with either a Bachelor of Education degree or a subject related degree, plus a PGCE qualification.
  • They should have a minimum of five years’ teaching experience and have successfully led and developed a large team.
  • Proven, successful experience of leading a large team in delivering outstanding PE and Sports provision (e.g. impactful role as Director of Sport, Head of Department).
  • Proven, successful experience of teaching across the age and ability range and of raising student achievement.
  • Proven experience of curriculum development and delivery and in developing co curricular and enrichment programs.
  • Experience of competing in sports at a high level both personally and through the development of students is advantageous but not essential.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels orally and in writing.
  • Excellent ICT skills, including some familiarity with school management information systems.
  • Good administrative and record keeping skills.
