NMC Healthcare is currently looking to hire a candidate for the job role of Specialist Neurology in Royal Family Medical Center -MBZC, Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is an Intermediate level full time job. And salary can range between 20000-40000 AED/month.

Responsibilities of Specialist Neurology

  • Specialist Neurology will give the best possible care to patients in the Medical Centre and ensure that a high professional standard of care consistent with the resources available is provided to all patients.
  • Abide by the rules of the Department & Section.
  • Observe ethical standards compatible with of contemporary medical practice.
  • Provide and maintain medical, and health professional education and continuing interdisciplinary health professional education.
  • Promote evidence-based decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of and comply with the By-Laws, the Rules and Regulations and the policies of the Medical Centre.
  • Ensure that a high professional standard of care is provided to patients under their care within the privileges assigned.
  • Maintain involvement, as a recipient, in continuing medical and interdisciplinary professional education to meet minimum DOH requirements.
  • Recognize the authority of the Head of Department, the Medical Director
  • Notify the Head of Department, Medical Director or Medical Centre Director of any actions or claims that may arise that may have an effect on the licensure of the employee to practice medicine.
  • Attend all meetings of the Departments to which the Medical Staff member is appointed (unless excused).
  • Serve on sub-committees of the Medical Executive Committee, as required.
  • Provide consultations on patients, as required.
  • Perform such other duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the Medical Centre Director or the Head of Department.
  • Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality in maintaining critical and sensitive information, records, and reports.
  • Actively participate in the Medical Centre’s on-going Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Programs and other In-Service Training Programs
  • Act as a translator if needed.
  • Perform other duties and tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
  • Diagnosing complex medical problems by referring to a patient’s history, examining them and conducting neurological tests.

What you will do more

  • Counseling patients on neurological disorders and their background.
  • Ordering neurological tests and interpreting the results of neuroimaging studies.
  • Conducting physical examinations, collecting spinal fluid or other samples and running neurological tests to identify problems.
  • Prescribe and/or administer treatment and medication related to neurological disorders.
  • Monitor the behavioral and cognitive side effects of treatment and medication.
  • Order supportive care services for patients.
  • Consult with patients on aftercare and long-term health management strategies.
  • Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatments or medication as needed.
  • Prescribe treatments or medication best suited to improve the patient’s condition.
  • Order tests and interpret results in order to determine the best treatment options.
  • Attend training and seminars to stay up to date on the latest trends and developments in neurology.
  • Diagnose conditions like strokes, multiple sclerosis, migraines, blackouts, or spinal cord disorders.
  • Diagnose conditions such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases and other forms of dementia.
  • Diagnose motor neuron disease.
  • Diagnose muscle diseases like muscular dystrophy.
  • Communicate with nurses and other medical staff to ensure patients receive best possible care.
  • Complete ward rounds where you’ll look after a caseload of inpatients.
  • Offer specialist expertise and guidance to other doctors and staff from a range of medical specialties.
  • Keep up your knowledge of the latest treatments for neurological disorders, which have increased significantly over recent years.
  • Participate in neuroscience research activities.
  • Liaise with medical professionals within the facility and other hospitals.
  • Keeping up to date with neurological developments, treatments, and medication.
  •  Performing specialized treatments such as sleep disorders, neuroimmunology, neuro-oncology, behavioral neurology, and neurogenetics.
  • Performing and interpreting lumbar punctures, electroencephalography, electromyography, and nerve conduction velocity tests.
  • Has the sole responsibility for issuing the DOH Sick Leave from the DOH website.

Decision Making Authority

  • Work is carried out within general policies, principles and goals, and is subject to direction only for guidance on policy issues.
  • Attending Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs as a mandatory requirement.
  • Being compliant with all OSH policies & procedures and legal requirements regarding Occupational Safety and Health Management System.
  • Conducting his/her task in a healthy and safe manner at all times.
  • Reporting any untoward events that will impact the occupational, safety & health of patients, staff, contractors, facilities, operations, etc.
  •  Comply with the established OHSMS procedures of which they have been informed, instructed and trained.
  • Actively participate along with line management towards implementation of OHSMS requirements.
  • Report to the respective manager any potentially hazard, unsafe act or condition, which may cause EHS impacts.
  • Report all EHS hazard, near miss and incidents to the respective line manager.
  • Infection Control: All employees are personally accountable for their actions and are responsible for ensuring that they comply with infection prevention and control policies.
  • Health care workers are responsible for identifying infectious conditions that require specific controls to protect themselves and their patients. In addition, they are responsible for notifying the infection prevention.

Requirements for Role of Specialist Neurology

  • MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited and recognized university.
  • Specialty in Neurology must be obtained from recognized and accredited university with valid DOH license.
  • 2+ years of practice as a Neurologist.
