Job Description

A Specialist Medical Microbiologist at NMC Royal Hospital will perform the professional duties of a microbiologist in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the credential committee. Responsibilities of Specialist Medical Microbiologist

Interpretation and reporting of bacteriological, parasitology, mycology serological and immunological tests.
Key role in the hospital infection control committee, and special infection control requirements for infectious diseases.
Preparation and maintenance of the infection control manual for the hospital.
Key role in antibiotic stewardship committee.
Perform/oversee the quality control procedures and maintain the data as per the rules of DHA.
Training the technicians for maintaining standard operating practices in the laboratory.
Attending the CME programs to maintain professional standard.
Supports Continuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriate standards of care.

Qualifications & Experience

Following are the requirements for the role of Specialist Medical Microbiologist at NMC Royal Hospital:

Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency.
Post graduate degree (MD-Microbiology) and International Fellowship from the College of American Microbiologist (or its equivalent).
At least five (5) years of experience in microbiology with management of all types of laboratory test & techniques in all type & ages of patients.
