Responsibilities of Specialist Medical Microbiologist

• Interpretation and reporting of bacteriological, parasitology, mycology serological and immunological tests.
• Key role in the hospital infection control committee, and special infection control requirements for infectious diseases.
• Preparation and maintenance of the infection control manual for the hospital.
• Key role in antibiotic stewardship committee.
• Perform/oversee the quality control procedures and maintain the data as per the rules of DHA.
• Training the technicians for maintaining standard operating practices in the laboratory.
• Attending the CME programs to maintain professional standard.
• Supports Continuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriate standards of care.

Qualifications & Experience

Following are the requirements for the role of Specialist Medical Microbiologist at NMC Royal Hospital:

• Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency.
• Post graduate degree (MD-Microbiology) and International Fellowship from the College of American Microbiologist (or its equivalent).
• At least five (5) years of experience in microbiology with management of all types of laboratory test & techniques in all type & ages of patients.
