Role of Specialist Internal Medicine

Responsible for solving complex diagnostic problems, managing chronic illnesses, and help patients with multiple, complex long term conditions.

Duties of Specialist Internal Medicine

• Admit patients to hospital under the supervision of consultant.
• Order treatments and medications.
• Liaise with Non Clinical / Clinical staff.
• Conduct ward rounds daily.
• Participate in senior staff rounds.
• Keep daily records of inpatient progress.
• Follow up patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Follow up results of investigations and accordingly adjust patient treatment accordingly.
• Perform invasive procedures / surgery under the supervision of consultant.
• Receive calls and see patients from the Emergency Department and specialty clinics.
• Maintain a good working relationship and professional conduct with all members of the staff and hospital staff.

Education & Experience

• Degree of medicine.
• Residency in internal medicine.
• 2-3 years of clinical experience in internal medicine.
