Role of Specialist Emergency Medicine

An Emergency Medicine Specialist works primarily in the emergency department within a hospital, treating and stabilizing patients with acute health problems or traumatic injury.

Responsibilities of Specialist Emergency Medicine

• Identify and immediately manage serious and life-threatening situations.
• Care for and stabilize critically-ill patients of all ages.
• Treat infections and injuries in a hospital emergency room or urgent care facility.

Your Duties in this Role

• Assessing patients who enter the emergency room immediately and overseeing emergency recovery.
• Conducting follow-up visits to monitor the patient’s condition.
• Requesting the appropriate medical tests and based on them, following a treatment plan.
• Ensuring that patients are stable before transferring them to the proper department for further evaluation.
• Providing instructions for discharge and any relevant paperwork.
• Maintaining patients’ medical records.
• Coordinating with different ER departments to ensure patients receive the necessary treatment.

Education & Experience

• Degree in medicine with residency in emergency care.
• A minimum of 4-5 years of experience post qualification.
• Experience in treatment & management of- injures, accidents, burns allergies to heart attacks, stroke.
