Job Description
Shari’a Audit Manager at Emirates Islamic Bank is responsible to manage and oversee Shari’a audit functions at Emirates Islamic Bank, ensuring compliance with Islamic banking principles and regulations. This is full time role and it was announced by the company on February 14, 2024.
Responsibilities of Shari’a Audit Manager
- Lead the Shariah auditing process and successful completion of Shariah audit assignment.
- Ensure that sufficient documentation is complete and filed in order to understand the business model of the Department / Unit under review.
- Provide appropriate instructions and guidelines during the execution of the Shariah Audit assignment to achieve the Shariah Audit objectives.
- Perform the detailed review and confirmation of the Shariah Audit findings raised and the management response and recommend if the finding is to be included or excluded from the final report and the reasons why.
- Draft Shariah audit comments and report Shariah Audit findings identified during the fieldwork.
- Ensure timely completion of Shariah audit assignments and submission of reports to Head of Shariah Audit.
- Plan and direct the use of IT tools that aide in performing the Shariah Audit.
Maintain effective communication with Department/Unit’s Heads in matters related to Shariah Audit:
- Plan and attend the opening meetings with the Head of the Department / Unit under review and obtain his / her commitment to the audit assignment.
- Attend the closing meeting with the Head of the Department / Unit under review.
- Conduct follow up assignments with the Head of the Department / Unit under review.
Perform the shariah audit engagements as assigned by Head of ISAD:
- Conduct end-to-end Shariah assessment through critical Shariah examination of operational policies, procedures, and accounting entries in order to ensure its compliance with Islamic Shariah.
Leadership and Teamwork:
- Actively promote collaboration and sharing of ideas across all staff
- Participate in the development of a professional development plan for subordinate.
- Submit regular feedback to Head of Shariah Audit regarding the performance of his subordinate and how to improve on the area of weaknesses.
Requirements of Shari’a Audit Manager
- A university degree in Islamic Shari’ah, or relevant specializations.
- A professional certificate in auditing issued by an international organization.
- An experience of 7 years (at least), as a minimum, in the field of Shari’ah Audit/ Internal Audit, with good knowledge/experience in IIA quality assurance requirements.
Skills and Knowledge Desired
- Effective Communication and Human Relations skills.
- Technology Proficient (excel, word, Visio, ability to learn new software).
- Preferable to have a professional certificate in auditing issued by an international organization.
- Strong business acumen.
