Job Description
KU is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist to work on a funded project to investigate the development of explainable large language models in wireless networks (ELLM Net). More specifically, the project aims to tackle research challenges concerned with distributed LLMs in wireless networks, such as model compression, privacy preserving techniques, and model explainability.
Responsibilities of Senior Research Scientist
- Lead research on the development and fine tuning of large language models.
- Fine tune LLMs for specific purposes.
- Develop efficient LLM model compression techniques for wireless networks.
- Develop novel privacy preserving approaches to ensure guaranteed data and model privacy for wireless networks in a distributed fashion.
- Develop a mathematical based framework for the explainability of LLMs for improved decision making capabilities.
- Contribute to writing grants, drafting patents and attending conferences.
- Support the project lead faculty in attracting additional research project funding into the university.
- Performing analyses in collaboration with scientists locally and internationally.
- Adhere to the University’s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
Job Requirements of Senior Research Scientist
- PhD from a reputable university in a related discipline to machine learning.
- Experience of undertaking assigned research tasks and starting to manage own workload.
- At least 4 years of increasingly accountable relevant experience as a researcher in academia or in industry.
- At least 3 lead author publication in a Q1 journal in machine learning (or leading conferences such as ICLR).
- Experience contributing to high impact publications in top 10% journals in the relevant field.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Contributing to scientific papers and academic journal articles where possible acting as lead/ corresponding author.
- A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to function as part of a team working on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines.
- Well developed reasoning and problem solving skills.
