Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is seeking a Senior Medical Physicist (Diagnostic) – TLD Service to join their dynamic team in Abu Dhabi. The role holder works under partial supervision of the senior medical physicists for all aspects of radiotherapy physics, diagnostic radiology physics and radiation protection.

Responsibilities of Senior Medical Physicist

• To ensure all radiation safety precautions are maintained throughout the treatment and that staff and patients are informed of all necessary precautions to take during treatment in the hospital and when they go home.
• To sit as a member on any committee to which being nominated.
• To evaluate subordinate staff performance (as required).
• Provides in-service training for Radiologists, radiographers, technicians, nursing staff others.
• To lecture to Medical students and may have to lecture on courses on radiation protection.
• Undertakes to accept for instruction University students who may need to study in the Medical physics department.
• Comply with and ensure that all staff working under his/her supervision complies with Health and Safety at Work policies for the areas in which they work.
• To assist in the quality assurance of diagnostic radiology equipment.
• To advice on the planning and replacement of equipment needed in radiotherapy to perform treatment planning and in-vivo dosimetry.
• To consult with the radiologists in developing effective imaging techniques for radiotherapy planning techniques.
• To develop the new instruments and data analysis approaches for the next generation of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.
• As a member of the multidisciplinary clinical team, involve in the provision of health care for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
• To oversee equipment operation, radiation safety and protection of staff, patients and carers.
• Teaching and training of junior scientists and medical staff, advanced IT and computing applications.
• Troubleshooting of artefacts or abnormal appearances in scans.
• Verifying the results of clinical studies which use measurements involving radiation.

Education & Experience

Following are the requirements to qualify for the role of Senior Medical Physicist (Diagnostic) at SSMC:

• B.Sc degree in Physical Science from an accredited program or equivalent.
• Completion of internship after graduation.
