Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist SSMC Abu Dhabi

The Medical Laboratory Department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced candidate for the role of Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist – Cytoscreener. This role is responsible for Performing technical processing of gynaecological and non-gynaecological cases, Screen and report Negative gynaecology cases, Screen Non-gynaecology cases, Perform ROSE (Rapid On-Site Evaluation). Duties of Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist

• Performs technical processing of gynaecological and non-gynaecological cases.
• Screens and reports Negative gynaecology cases.
• Screens Non-gynaecology cases.
• Performs ROSE (Rapid On Site Evaluation).
• Determines competency to perform laboratory activities assigned to perform.
• Participates in training and orientation of new staff / trainee and ensuring their abidance to the rules and policies as applied and implemented in the Section / Department / Facility (as per requirement).
• Carries out other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Senior Supervisor.
• Operates equipment in the correct manner including, maintenance, calibration, QC, proper recording, troubleshooting, and inform Supervisor / Senior Supervisor of any malfunction. Ensures proper documentation.
• Participates in equipment method validation, establish QC, writing SOP’s / procedure and other section activities / initiatives / continues improvement measure.
• Prepares and completes SOPs.
• Maintains sufficient inventory of material supplies for daily work and reports shortage of materials to Supervisor / Senior Supervisor at earliest convenience in appropriate format. Ordering and approving the replenishment when necessary. Follows the Lab reagent / consumables policy.
• Participates in proficiency testing program and implement the program as required including, receiving, processing, release of results and corrective action.
• Attends / reads the section meeting and comply with outcome actions as required.
• Maintains and follows quality control procedures including trouble shooting and initiate corrective actions.

Your Role as Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist

• Analysis of samples, review, report / release of results.
• Comply with the quality control programs and procedures including SOP (standard operation procedures) and Quality Assurance programs for Laboratory and SSMC hospital including accreditation activities.
• Identify, act on and report incidents and participate in investigations as assigned.
• Participate in quality assessment and quality improvement activities such as internal audit, risk identification, KPI and other activities.
• Participate in accreditation preparation as required.
• Oversee KPIs activities such as data collection, corrective actions, etc.
• Respond and react to stakeholders’ concern and complaint report and participate in corrective actions.
• Complete all mandatory programs assigned by the hospital, Lab department and section specific including training and competency testing.
• Comply with assigned hospital, Lab department and section specific plans, policies and procedures.
• Maintain and follow professional and effective communication with patients, family and other medical personnel including accurate handover for other staff.
• Adhere to the requirement of the occupational health / policies and procedures and Laboratory quality assurance program.
• Perform on-call and shift duties as assigned, including weekends, public holidays and during disaster.

Eligiblity Criteria

Following are the requirements for the role of Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist – Clinical Chemistry at SSMC:

• BSc in Medical Technology or clinical laboratory science or an equivalent qualification requiring NLT 3 years training course. OR
• Graduate of an accredited (MLT) program leading to registration with ASCP / ASCLS / CSMLS / AIMS or fellowship of IBMS or other recognized institutions by the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory sciences (IFBLS).
• Current National License.
• NLT 4 year’s clinical experience in a clinical laboratory since first registration as a qualified laboratory science professional with MSc.
• NLT 3 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory environment as a cyto screener.
•  Evidence of progressive leadership and management experience in a clinical position.
