Purpose of Senior Coordinator Retention Solutions

Develop and maintain an effective support system for students by students that fosters and improves student retention rates and promotes a strong sense of belonging to Zayed University. The role engages students in various roles and responsibilities to accommodate and facilitate Zayed University events/activities requested by various offices, departments and/or colleges both for internal and external purposes.

Duties of Senior Coordinator Retention Solutions

  • Recruits, hires, trains, and provides daily monitoring of peer tutors (PALs).
  • Provides leadership of ZU PALs program and line management of PALS staff.
  • Coordinates, administers work schedules for the PALs and communicates regularly with PALs when necessary.
  • Line manages, evaluates the PALs by formal appraisals and counsels/de-selects PALs where necessary.
  • Delegates PALs to various roles and responsibilities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of work.
  • Prepares, maintains, and updates materials and publications related to PALs events/activities.
  • Coordinates and participates in university events in which PALs are requested to assist and facilitate.
  • Coordinates with the Finance Department (and relevant personnel) for semester payment for PALs.

What you’ll do

  • Liaise with Government Communication Department regarding posters and certifications.
  • Assist with facilitating any PALs related event/activities on or off campus.
  • Maintain and update any PALs social media and Zayed University online PALs literature.
  • Evaluate and assess PALs activities on an ongoing basis using the online evaluation database.
  • Provide PALs with assistance in any further postgraduate studies or job applications e.g., Resume and application assistance, References., Digital Badges.
  • Serve as a liaison to faculty/staff associated with PALs e.g., ARM booking system. requested University events/activities, Teaching Assistants (TAs).
  • Ensure that the retention solutions include but not limited to Peer Assistance Support and Leadership events/activities, Campus wide events/activities and External events/activities.

Education & Experience

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree (minimum) from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in teaching, advising or retention activities at an institution of higher learning or other management setting or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Competent level of computer literacy.
  • Proven skills at working with students and adults effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as good listening skills.
  • Be able to work unsupervised.
