HSBC is currently seeking an ambitious Senior Business Development Manager to join their GTRF (Global Trade & Receivables Finance) team within Commercial Banking, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets. The job holder will be responsible for Business Development (BD) for the GTRF Global Banking (GB) Sales team managing a portfolio of Multinational and Large Local Corporates from a Trade, Supply Chain & Receivable Finance perspective.

Responsibilities of Senior Business Development

  • Drive revenue growth through working capital management products and services to maximize commercial profitability and relationship depth. The candidate is expected to have out of box thinking to identify opportunities to grow business.
  • Retain wallet share from existing clients and increase penetration within the portfolio from group companies.
  • Develop effective strategies for winning new clients to generate new revenue streams for the business. Identify new sales opportunities in the form of new to bank or new to trade clients.
  • Work closely with various Senior Bankers in GB, the various global GRBs, Global BDM’s, Product and proposition leads and other global and local stake holders.
  • Provide direction in assessing opportunities within the marketplace, keeping the team abreast of latest trends and client requirements, and ensuring suitable solutions are offered within the GTRF product suite.
  • The role holder participates in thought leadership and strategic decisions to drive the GTRF business forward. Working with relevant stakeholders the role holder will combine acting as the senior client contact with supporting the design and pricing of solutions.
  • Work in close collaboration with structuring, Distribution, Implementation and Client Service teams to ensure the best solutions and an efficient execution process for complex clients.
  • Work closely with senior management to deliver on important projects and initiatives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Adhere to all internal policies and frameworks as stipulated.

Requirements of Senior Business Development Manager

The requirements for the role of Senior Business Development Manager are as under:

  • Graduation degree in business administration or a related field.
  • 2 years of sales experience at a senior level including dealing with senior executives plus a proven sale record.

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Extensive knowledge of global trade finance, structured trade products and techniques, market & market trends, competitive environment, and regulatory environment.
  • Strong sales, interpersonal, communications, leadership, negotiation, analytical, presentation and decision making skills.
  • Working knowledge of Credit & Risk including techniques to mitigate risk.
  • Good organizational skills with an ability to effectively prioritize and meet critical deadlines.
