The Department of Finance (DOF) for the Government of Dubai was established in 1995 to supervise all financial and accounting affairs of the Government of Dubai, in addition to issuing consolidated financial statements for the emirate’s government. DOF is responsible for achieving financial sustainability to proactively support the leading position of the Emirate of Dubai through the fair and efficient distribution of the Emirate’s resources by utilizing the best smart and innovative financial systems and practices in a manner that ensures the achievement of happiness and quality of life for the society. It oversees the preparation and development of financial resources and verifies the collection and provision of general revenues, while also supervising government banking accounts.  

Job Purpose of A Senior Accountant Monthly Closings & Reports

Undertaking tasks related to recording and executing various financial transactions within the scope of job specialization in accordance with the procedures approved by the department in this regard.

Key Tasks of A Senior Accountant Monthly Closings & Reports

  • Follow up the implementation of operations related to book collections in the department.
  • Carrying out the various financial transactions recording processes.
  • Verifying the validity of the accounting registration in accordance with the approved procedures in this regard.
  • Executing processes for preparing regular entries for redirecting revenue or expenditure receipts.
  • Ensuring the correct application of the financial accounting standards applied in the Government of Dubai in the accounting books.
  • Verifying the use of appropriate accounts in charging expenses and revenues.
  • Continuous communication with various entities inside and outside the department to provide them with financial and administrative information.
  • Implementation of operations related to the control of all regular accounts (assets / liabilities / property rights / expenses / revenues).
  • Preparation of financial statements in accordance with the closing circulars issued in this regard.
  • Preparing all entries related to closing property rights accounts and receivables accounts (credit / debit) at the end of the fiscal year.
  • Documenting and archiving documents and reports related to the work of the unit in order to facilitate the process of reference and extraction.
  • Submit proposals and initiatives aimed at developing and simplifying work procedures.
  • Any other tasks or duties related to the nature of work as assigned.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s in Accounting/financial sciences or any related field.
  • Experience: 4 years practical experience in similar fields.
  • Professional Qualification: Professional certificates specialized in the field of work.
  • Nationality: Preferably UAE National.
