Senior Accountant in Cargo at Emirates Airlines in Garhoud Area opposite to Airport Terminal 3, Dubai, UAE will analyzing the risks and internal controls as applicable for revenue in a business unit, identifying solutions, mitigating risk, accuracy and integrity in financial accounting through a process of GL review/reconciliation complying with Group Policies and Procedures, Revenue/Yield reporting, Commercial Systems, facilitate tax compliance, service delivery to internal and external customers, reviewing key processes and recommending measures as required to enhance efficiency and drive optimization of unit costs. This is a Senior level full time job. And salary can range between 15000-25000 AED/month.

Responsibilities of Senior Accountant Cargo

  • Generic: Perform periodic process reviews/risk assessment techniques, identify system/process related discrepancies/limitations/revenue leakages. Handle qualitative analysis & compile data for KPIs & analytical reports required by Senior Management.
  • Maintain reconciliation standards through regular review of reconciliation functions and internal controls.
  • Review all reconciliation nominals and follow-up for open items with an aim towards closure of the same within the stipulated timeline.
  • Identify high variances in the nominals and investigate causes of the same and liaise with stakeholders for resolutions and corrective action.
  • Explore opportunities and collaborate and coordinate with the Finance teams and relevant stakeholders for process improvements, system enhancements, automation and escalate anomalies and provide recommendations to the Senior Management.
  • Assist auditors in coordination with the Finance Controller and handle queries with reference to quality controls, quality reports & procedures.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders to resolve discrepancies regarding agreements/ circulars/ reconciliation. To ensure relevant information is interpreted and updated accurately for continuity, clarity & completeness.
  • Analyze the data generated using trends/comparative analysis/industry data and escalate meaningful observations that are causing yield dilution or revenue leakage etc. To concerned stakeholders for appropriate corrective action.
  • Manage, motivate & develop the team into a cohesive working unit, maximize team accuracy. And productivity so that respective team deliverables are completed in the most cost-effective way and as per the set KPIs.
  • Ensure system requirements are meet by performing User Acceptance Testing for Finance products.
  • Specific to EK Revenue Services (EKRS): Manage revenue accounting and audit of Cargo Revenue Recognition, Sales liability, Interline billing, receivables & expenses in accordance with IATA rules and regulations with staff support.

What you will do more

  • Account for these accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring that they reflect the correct values in the monthly Financial Statement.
  • Identify the other Revenue leakage areas in Revenue Accounting or any discrepancies/reporting issues. And ensure that corrective action based on the type of discrepancy is taken and escalated at the level as outlined in Standard Operating Procedure so that the revenue of the company is protected.
  • Perform completeness and integrity checks in the relevant Financials system and liaise with the other teams within the section to ensure that the closing disciplines and monthly deadlines are met.
  • Evaluate codeshare contracts interpreting the complex contractual clauses to establish accurate billing values in inward/outward billing file and highlight discrepancies, if any.
  • Ensure billing disputes on complex agreements are resolve within the require time frame incorporate in RAM and Codeshare Agreements/SPAs.
  • Manage Codeshare partner relationship and operational audits as stipulated in the agreement.
  • Analyze the OAL documents on EK metal to identify & highlight areas of potential yield dilution/fare discrepancy.
  • Liaise with OAL, Commercial, Revenue Optimization and IATA in connection with queries, disputes, issues & feedback to ensure timely resolution.
  • Conduct pre and post-closing reviews to ensure accurate and complete billing and accounting function.
  • Support External audit requirements by resolving their queries/observation, providing justification as required.
  • Support Team Lead with analytical/compliance data requirements for key business decisions, Interline reporting and escalations.

Requirements for Role of Senior Accountant Cargo

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.
  • 7+ years experience in Finance and/or Accounting in a Supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in handling cargo fare preferably in an airline, in a supervisory capacity
  • Practical experience in specifying and testing the Revenue accounting-related system changes would be preferable
  • Knowledge and experience in Revenue Accounting functions such as cargo, proration, and interline billing.

Skills And Knowledge Desired

  • Ability to analyse and review in detail Accounting statements and reports.
  • High level of computer literacy and good knowledge of office automation software like Word, Excel, MS Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Critical Thinker with good investigative and analytical skills.
  • Specific to EKRS.
