Job Description

Aldar Education is currently seeking an outstanding Special Education Needs / SEN Teacher for Al Budoor Kindergarten Charter School in Abu Dhabi commencing the next academic year 2024 to 2025. The school provides high quality education and follows the AERO Curriculum. This vacancy was announced by the school  on January 22, 2024. Responsibilities of SEN Teacher

  • Teach either individuals or small groups of pupils within or outside the class or via distance learning.
  • Prepare lessons and resources.
  • Mark and assess work.
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils.
  • Use special equipment and facilities, such as audio visual materials and computers to stimulate interest in learning.
  • Use specialist skills, such as teaching Braille to pupils with visual impairments or sign language and lip reading to students who have hearing impairments.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for the pupils concerning the curriculum.
  • Work with the head teacher to ensure that the learning requirements are met in terms of reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.
  • Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists.
  • Work closely with parents and guardians.
  • Organize learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events (if applicable to the current situation).
  • Assist in severely disabled pupils’ personal care/medical needs.
  • Carry out administrative tasks, including updating and maintaining records of pupils’ progress.
  • Attend statutory annual reviews or other related meetings regarding students with SEN, which may involve reviewing education, health and care plans.
  • Attend in service training.
  • Manage behavior.
  • Contribute to end of term report writing for Students of determination.

Job Requirements of SEN Teacher

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education major in Special Education or SEND.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a SEN/SEND Teacher.
  • With at least a minimum of 7 IELTS band score.
  • Previous experience working with students with additional learning needs.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • A good knowledge of Early Childhood pedagogy.
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
  • A high level of professionalism and consideration for the well being of children.
  • A positive and solution focused attitude to working life.
