The following tasks will be performed by the Chemistry Teacher
Set challenging tasks and practical investigations that maintain high pupil interest
Provide clear lesson structures while keeping pace, motivation, and challenge
Identify SEN and EAL pupils and adapt teaching to meet their needs
Use effective questioning and listen carefully to address errors and misconceptions
Select appropriate learning resources including ICT and library materials
Mark and monitor pupil work regularly, setting clear targets for progress
Assess and record pupil progress systematically using formal and half termly assessments
Communicate with parents through informal contact, parent evenings, and written reports twice yearly
Attend staff meetings, provide cover for absent colleagues, and contribute to the extra curricular activity programme
Follow all health and safety rules and perform playground duties with due diligence
A bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related subject from an accredited institution is required. A PGCE or QTS must also be held. Two years of full time teaching experience in KS4 is essential. Experience teaching IBDP in an international school is desirable. A proven track record of securing excellent outcomes at IGCSE and IB is expected. Strong planning, time management, and interpersonal skills must be demonstrated. A clean criminal background check covering the previous ten years of employment history will be required. An online due diligence search will also be completed.
The current market salary for a Chemistry Teacher in Abu Dhabi ranges from 13,000 to 16,000 AED per month depending on experience and qualifications. A generous housing allowance or furnished accommodation is provided by the school. Annual flight tickets home, comprehensive health insurance, and visa sponsorship for the employee are also included.
