Science Head GEMS UAE

GEMS Education are looking for an outstanding Science Head to join GEMS Winchester Private School in Fujairah in February 2024. Successful applicant will be a fully qualified teacher of Physics, with exceptional subject knowledge and experience in leading the Science department. This job was made available by the school on 15 December 2023 , and they’re open to applications.

Responsibilities of Science Head

• Lead strategic direction and development of the Science department, including but not limited to setting the vision, analysing data, improvement planning, target setting and ongoing self evaluation.
• Create a culture of high performance.
• Develop an outstanding teaching and learning culture ensuring outstanding achievement for all.
• Lead on curriculum development ensuring outstanding provision for all, including an enhanced extra and co curricular programme.
• Lead and manage staff, including but not limited to overseeing staffing, recruitment, performance appraisal and professional development.
• Efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources, including but not limited to budget planning, timetable overview and talent acquisition.
• Lead on the marketing of the department to promote the school, raise the profile of the subject and increase student numbers.
• Communicate effectively and proactively with all stakeholders.
• Play a lead role in developing key policies and practices that support the Academy’s overall aims, vision and values.
• Attend all staff briefings.
•  Share responsibility for representing the Department at cross-curricular committees e.g. EAL link.
• Empower and provide strategic direction to the discreet Heads of Subjects (Physics /Chemistry/ Biology).
• Other duties which may be reasonably assigned by the Principal or Head of School. 

Job Requirements

The requirements for the job role of Head Science are as under:

• You must hold a Bachelor of Science in Physics + PGCE or QTS. (Distance or open university degrees are not accepted).
• Minimum 2 years experience in similar role.
• Experience of the iGCSE, AS, and A Level curriculum is essential.

• Excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with students and parents.
• Good command of English.
