Responsibilities of School Doctor

• To be responsible for the health, hygiene, and well-being of students and staff of the school; ensuring the school’s complete compliance with regulations and rulings of the Ministry of Health.
• Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
• Ensure students and parents adhere are well informed of immunization programs as Ministry of Health guidelines.
• Monitor the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene within the school, particularly in areas such as the cafeteria, washrooms, and swimming pools.
• Be available to students and staff to address their immediate medical needs, providing a source of medical advice.
• Maintain comprehensive medical records of all students as regulated by the Ministry of Health.
• Manage and guide the school nurses so that they function optimally, in the best interests of the students, staff, and school.
• Keep up to date with current medical practices and regulations, as prescribed by Governmental authorities.
• Ensure GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct always followed.
• Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday, where the tasks require additional commitment.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers/supervisors.

Job Requirements

The requirements for the job role of School Doctor are as under:

• Required Bachelors Degree
• Minimum 5 to 15 year experience in similar role.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

• Excellent English language skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to remain calm in cases of emergency and cope with a degree of pressure at peak times. A logical and relaxed individual able to interact with a variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures.
• A valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) license is a must.
