Al Shohub British School is seeking a dedicated School Counsellor for an immediate start position in Abu Dhabi. This role involves supporting students’ personal, social, and academic growth and wellbeing across the school. Furthermore, the successful candidate will deliver therapeutic interventions, provide career guidance, and work closely with the pastoral team and safeguarding leads. Additionally, bilingual proficiency in both spoken and written communication is required for this position, along with a valid DCD License.

Key Responsibilities for School Counsellor at Al Shohub British School Abu Dhabi

As School Counsellor, you will monitor the progress of individual students and help them understand and deal with social, behavioural, and personal problems. Additionally, you will deliver therapeutic interventions based on individual needs and provide referrals to external services as required. Moreover, your responsibilities include emphasising preventive and developmental counselling to provide students with life skills, coordinating university affairs and applications, and maintaining awareness of cultural influences on adolescent social development. Furthermore, you will promote student wellbeing through whole-school and community awareness initiatives, take steps to prevent bullying, and support victims accordingly. In addition, you will help students develop job search skills and explore career options.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counselling, or Psychology with a subsequent postgraduate counselling qualification. Additionally, a valid DCD License is required along with bilingual proficiency in both spoken and written communication. Furthermore, a minimum of two years of experience in school counselling or a related counselling field is essential. Moreover, applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, high emotional and physical energy, and the ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism throughout their work.
