Job Purpose of An Assistant Safety Officer

Assist HSE team in the implementation of Health & Safety Management system within the TG maintained facilities and ensure its compliance with International Safety Standards.

Duties of An Assistant Safety Officer

• Assist HSE team in implementation of Organizational HSE policy / procedures in compliance to ISO and any other HSE standard applied/ implemented by Transguard.
• Provide assistance in ensuring compliance of applicable legal requirement pertaining to Health, Safety and Environment.
• Manage and coordinate all HSE matters related to Business Units in compliance with HSE requirement ex. specification, safety code, legal requirement, and TG polices/ procedures.
• Coordinate with business units to conduct occupational risk and opportunity/ environmental aspects and impact assessment for prudently managing HSE risks & creating opportunities for continual improvement in their respective areas.
• Operate permit to work system and implement safe system of work for ensuring operational activities are carried with all safety precautions in place.
• Carry out HSE awareness training sessions within organization to promote safety culture and to carry out/ arrange job specific training for operatives.
• Assist in investigating HSE incidents and non compliance events to determine root cause and recommend remedial action to prevent reoccurrence.
• To conduct periodic safety inspections for identification of HSE hazards at workplace/ premises and ensure these hazards are minimized by implementing adequate control measures.
• Ensure the tracking and maintenance of all records & documents related to the HSE such as training, investigation reports etc.
• Participate in internal audits as per schedule and attend audits with the external auditors & clients whenever required.

What You’ll Do More?

• Work closely with the TG client’s health & safety representatives to ensure TG staff are aware and following their health & safety procedures.
• Attend client meetings whenever required.
• Carry out regular site visits to the TG accommodations to ensure the safety standards are implemented & practiced
• Assist HSE carry out building safety assessment for the TG accommodations.
• Conduct inspections related to fire and safety therefore ensuring all buildings are compliant in all matters relating to fire safety.
• Assist the facility manager/ HSE manager in investigating accidents or incidents to identify conditions that cause accidents and seek actions to prevent the same.
• Any other business-related task assigned by line manager.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in relevant field.

Certification

• NEBOSH International General Certificate.
• Any internationally accredited environment certificate will be preferable.

Experience

• 2 years of experience at Transguard.
• 1-2 years of experience in Health and Safety would be preferable.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

Technical skills

• Basic knowledge in implementing HSE standard including policy/procedures, ISO standard such as ISO 45001, 14001 etc.
• Knowledge of the UAE HSE legislation, code of practice & municipality guidelines.
• Good knowledge of MS Office.
• Valid UAE driving license is a must.
