Mubadala Health is seeking a qualified Retinal Grader to join them at Imperial College London Diabetes Center in Abu Dhabi. This is a recently announced job opportunity by the healthcare company under the requisition ID 2023-2120. Reporting to the Service Line Lead/ Manager, the role holder is responsible to provide a safe and high quality eye based services where they screen patients using fundus digital camera and grades them accurately.
Responsibilities of Retinal Grader
- Works collaboratively as an active member of the clinical team to provide patient and family-centered care.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives and assumes responsibility for their professional development.
- Ensures all patients with positive outcomes (retinopathy and/or maculopathy) pathology are scheduled with ophthalmologist within the recommended time frame.
- Adheres to the division’s policies, procedures and standards while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory bodies.
- Contributes towards an innovative culture of continuous improvement for enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participates in meetings and maintains professionalism and confidentiality as per the organization’s standard code of conduct.
- Completes personal performance evaluation cycle in a timely manner.
- Independently prioritizes and manages his/her own clinical caseload and area.
- Uses the screening service database to enable to manage the screening clinic and to facilitate quality control of image taking and documentation.
- Participates in retinal screening ensuring not to grade the same patients images.
- Making sure all patients whose retinal image has been taken or screened are graded.
What you’ll do as Retinal Grader
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment within the area in accordance to the Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
- Liaise with ophthalmologist and/or primary physician as needed.
- Follow all departmental protocols in all dealings with colleagues and service users contributing and implementing changes when required.
- Ensure adequate consumables available in the working area.
- Liaise with the team to ensure patient is followed up in the correct time-frame, and according to the clinical need.
- Identify any patients where there is progression of diabetic eye disease or deterioration of vision and refer to the ophthalmologist and/or eye clinic.
- Maintain a higher level of knowledge and expertise in retinal screening and grading.
- Provide supervision and assistance to primary retinal graders or screeners as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date retinal imaging and grading skills and knowledge in addition prioritizing a diverse and demanding workload on a day-to-day basis.
- Completion of Advance Diabetic Retinopathy Course and undergo training with ophthalmologist.
- Maintain an appropriate level of continuous professional development through inter-disciplinary training, online courses including monthly ITAT examination.
- Actively seek new knowledge and information to ensure ongoing professional development and competency to practice.
- Communicate effectively with team members and maintain good inter-functional liaison to ensure smooth implementation of operational activities.
- Communicate applicable regulatory requirements in a timely and clear manner within the division.
Qualifications & Experience
Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of Retinal Grader at Mubadala Health:
- High School Certificate.
- Minimum 1-year recent clinical experience.
- Experience in ambulatory setting.
- Certificate of Advance Diabetic Retinopathy Grading Course.
Job Specific Skills and Abilites
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be proficient in the use of an electronic medical record and other computer skills.
- Must be competent to use retinal camera and follow guidelines in the retinal grading system.
