Research Engineer Photonic Devices Khalifa University Abu Dhabi

Khalifa University is seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to work on the development of photonic based sensing devices for biomedical applications. As part of the project, the researcher will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities at the Biomedical Department and HEIC and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.

Role of Research Engineer Photonic Devices

Mainly focus on the development of wearable structures to be applied in rehabilitation scenarios and to provide laboratory support to POWER undergoing tasks.

Responsibilities of Research Engineer Photonic Devices

• Contribute to the development of novel sensing photonic based sensing structures to monitor physical parameters, such as torsion, range of mention, temperature and force.
• Contribute to the overall activities of the research team as required.
• Provide technical support to faculty members and students conducting research and participate in funded research projects.
• Maintain liaison with investigators, research personnel and staff to solve specific operating problems and improve technical activities.
• Drive practices and metrics, which ensure that the laboratories operate in compliance with all aspects of Khalifa University Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies.
• Ensure Research lab equipment is operational to the maximum extent possible and improve operations through efficient use of existing equipment.
• Design and fabricate systems for experimental purposes.
• Supervise the management of supply and parts inventory, manage the inventory of commonly used lab supplies.
• Advise the faculty and researchers to purchase consumables and accessories for equipment.
• Manage the technical aspects of the request for quotation with spare parts approved suppliers and vendors.
• Adhere to the University’s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a reputable university.
• 2-3 years research experience.
