Job Description

Khalifa University is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to support the iMAGIC team that has won the international Longitude Prize on Dementia (UK). This project focuses on the development of a pair of smart glasses to assist people with dementia to live independently for longer, while ensuring high design modularity and adaptability to meet the user’s changing abilities and needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting edge engineering and development in a collaborative and innovative environment.

As part of the project, the researcher will have access to state of the art research equipment and facilities at the Biomedical engineering department and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities of Research Assistant

Support the co design stage of the iMAGIC solution.
Manage the different communication channels with the UK Longitude team.
Work closely with their industrial and clinical partners.
Conduct data collection from people living with dementia.
Adhere to the University’s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

Job Requirements of Research Assistant

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Electric Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Health Sciences).
At least 1 year of relevant experience as a researcher in academia or in industry.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (preferably in both English and Arabic).
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python) is a plus.
Familiarity with behavioral data collection procedures is a plus.
