Registered Nurse NICU NMC Royal Womens Hospital Abu Dhabi

NMC Healthcare is currently looking to hire a candidate for the job role of a Registered Nurse in NICU at Royal Womens Hospital, Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is an Intermediate level full time role. For this position salary ranges from 7000-15000 AED, which may be slightly negotiable during the interview process.

Responsibilities of Registered Nurse

  • Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
  • Assess and identify patients’ needs and implement and monitor the patient’s medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings.
  • Perform systematic patient assessment and collect pertinent data about the patient’s health or situation.
  • Understand and analyze the assessment information and data.
  • Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
  • Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient’s planned care.
  • Create and evaluate patient care plans with the medical team.
  • Record vital signs, recognize and address abnormalities.
  • Define the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
  • Maintain and update the technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice .
  • Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and a safe environment.
  • Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory exams.
  • Perform essential life support (BLS).
  • Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment .
  • Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions.
  • Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions.
  • Provide wound care management.
  • Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed.
  • Facilitate the process of safe patient`s admission and discharge.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues:
  • Assesses comprehensive data including but not limited to physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs and interprets assessment information to derive the diagnosis or issues as defined by the patient’s condition.
  • Uses evidence-based assessment techniques and instruments in collecting data and validates the diagnosis or issue with the patient, family and healthcare team members as appropriate.
  • Prioritizes the data and information collected based on patient’s immediate condition or anticipated needs and identifies potential risks or barriers to the patient’s health or safety.
  • Documents the data and information collected in compliance with established guidelines and reflective of the needs of the patient.
  • Planning and Outcomes Identification: Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan that address health promotion, health restoration and health maintenance to attain expected outcomes.
  • Involves patient, family and healthcare team members in formulating a culturally appropriate individualized plan of care.
  • Applies evidence-based nursing practices in developing the individualized plan of care to attain expected outcomes and continuity of care.
  • Modifies the individualized plan of care according to the ongoing assessment and reevaluation of the patient’s response, status, and outcome indicators.
  • Documents the expected outcomes as measurable goals in a manner that uses standardized language or recognized terminology.
  • Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery: Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family. And healthcare team members in a timely manner utilizing evidence-based interventions and treatments specific to the needs of the patient.
  • Performs treatments and procedures according to established procedural guidelines and protocols.
  • Administers medications according to organization policies and procedures.
  • Ensures  that  all  components  of  the  individualized  plan  of  care,  including  modifications,  are documented in the patient’s health record.

What you will do more

  • Communicates relevant information across all levels of care and organizations.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of resource consumption and practices within a cost effective framework.
  • Provides direct care and related duties in the critical care. Maintains current knowledge of critical care nursing practice and standards.
  • Plans, implements and evaluates nursing care given to assigned neonate in an effective and organized manner.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge in the care of infant under phototherapy.
  • Assists with umbilical catherization and collection of specimens, bloods for diagnostic testing
  • Assesses and documents vital signs at specified frequency as per hospital policy.
  • Ability to set up peripheral cannulation, CPAP, hood oxygen & nasal prong.
  • Assists with intubations by preparing for the procedure.
  • Performs or assists with feedings and encourages breast feeding.
  • Performs baby bath, cord care and eye care meticulously for the infants.
  • Performs new born screening test including audiometry.
  • Prepares, administers and documents all neonatal medication as per hospital policies
  • Provides for the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient and families.
  • Predominant role in preparation, administration and documentation of medication.
  • Performs a wide range of nursing procedures with attention to accuracy, patient safety and comfort, including those requiring strict aseptic technique.
  • Assists with transfer of new born / infant within the health care facilities and serves as transport nurse for new born / infant during ambulance transport.
  • Provides health education to the infants’ parents about care of infant at home including breast feeding and immunization.
  • Competent in neonatal resuscitation and performs when needed.
  • Responsible for completing all the details on the birth notification form, labor and delivery register.

Requirements for Role of Registered Nurse

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience after qualification.
  • Evidenced experience/expertise in the clinical field in which they are employed.
  • Have basic life support qualification (within past 24 months)
  • Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualification and experience this mandates.

Skills And Knowledge Desired

  • Manage their own professional revalidation.
  • Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed.
  • Be willing to work across departments when necessary .
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English. (spoken and written)
  • Evidenced ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the HIS platform for clinical documentation.
