Role of Recovery Nurse

Also known as post anesthesia care unit nurse, the Incumbent is responsible for providing care and monitoring patients after anesthesia treatments or surgeries.

Duties of Recovery Nurse

• Monitor vital signs and record them.
• Manage pain using painkillers.
• Maintain aspetic conditions to prevent any infections.
• Clean the surgery area and properly dress it.
• Look for any signs of infection and report to Physician.
• Administer drugs on time and in proper dosage.
• Provide support and ensure patient’s comfort during recovery period.
• Maintain patient’s electrolyte levels and take steps to avoid dehydration or fluid overload.
• Monitor patient’s breathing and respiratory rate and check for signs of any airway obstruction.
• Educate patients and family on post surgery care process.

Education & Experience

• Nursing graduate from an accredited institute.
• 2-5 years of nursing experience.
