The Quantity Surveyor at Sharaf Retail plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management of costs and contracts within retail sector construction projects. This position involves comprehensive involvement in the preparation of bill of quantities (BOQ), tender processes, contract review and cost monitoring throughout the project lifecycle. Candidate will collaborate closely with Project Managers, consultants, contractors and suppliers to achieve project objectives while adhering to budgetary constraints and maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities of Quantity Surveyor

  • Preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for Civil, Architectural, Finishes & Fit-out aspects.
  • Review BOQ prepared by MEP Consultant to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Review General and Particular Contract Conditions.
  • Compile Tender Documents, including binding of essential documents such as Drawings, BOQ, Specifications & Contract Conditions.
  • Coordinate the tender process, including floating tender enquiries and preparing comparison statements for received tenders.
  • Prepare approval notes of selected vendors for management review and approval.
  • Assist Project Directors/Managers in technical, progress & commercial meetings with consultants, contractors & suppliers.
  • Attend value engineering discussions with project management, contractors & suppliers & evaluate value engineering proposals, including cost/benefit analysis.
  • Support Project Directors/Managers in responding to all tender correspondences.
  • Review variations and provide recommendations to Project Directors/Managers after variation assessment.
  • Conduct joint inspections with Project Directors/Managers and contractors for items requiring re-measurement after completion of fit-out works.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the project life cycle and submit period cost reports to Project Directors/Managers.
  • Ensure project costs remain within the approved budget/CAPEX.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all project commercial files, both incoming and outgoing.

Requirements for Role of Quantity Surveyor

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years experience working as a Quantity Surveyor in the retail sector is highly preferred.

Skills And Knowledge Desired

  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, tender processes and project management principles.
  • Proficiency in preparing BOQs, conducting cost analysis and managing project budgets.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and analysis.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications such as Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD and project management software.
