University Hospital Sharjah is presently seeking a Quality Manager to join their talented team. This role person is responsible for interpreting, defining, implementing, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating and reporting as a field wide authority, the Quality Improvement and Patient safety Program for the Organization and the Organization’s adherence to the Joint Commission International Accreditation of Hospital Standards.

Responsibilities of Quality Manager

  • Developing University Hospital Sharjah Quality Improvement Program.
  • Participating effectively in Implementing & Follows up of Q.I. Plan Activities.
  • Orchestrating Quality Improvement Initiatives & Activities Hospital-Wide.
  • Serves as a resource to all departments, divisions and units, hospital and ambulatory, and established committees in all areas relating to Quality Assurance.
  • Promotes and facilitates cost-effective resource utilization related to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Establishes priorities for investigation of problem areas based on the degree of adverse impact on patient care that can be expected if the problem remains unresolved.
  • Develops effective patient care review and evaluation mechanisms and monitors to assure results are achieved.
  • Directs implementation and maintenance of technical guidelines and frameworks within which quality of care is evaluated.
  • Arranges with Quality Facilitators throughout UHS for staff education,  Varied collection and analysis.
  • Establishes system-wide variation database for benchmarking, system improvement opportunities, Length of stay and resource management.
  • Provides ongoing assessment and support for continuous quality improvement, quality assurance and risk management , safety culture for the Hospitals priority programs and support its infrastructure.
  • Based on the evaluation of the patient’s medical records identifies concern areas and plans for the improvement.

Your Duties as Quality Manager

  • Communicate appropriate information from studies and data sources to committees, departments and persons affected by the studies.
  • Identify and share across the system best practice models and care processes (those, which achieve optimal patient outcomes, enhance patient/family and  staff satisfaction, are cost effective and resource appropriate).
  • Maintain all necessary records pertinent to the JCI process.
  • Facilitate Quality Improvement plan meetings.
  • Quarterly report preparation for review to hospital executive and governance.
  • Maintain records of policies, procedures, guidelines, forms and other documents and ensure the circulation of current documents and the de-circulation of expired documents.
  • Maintain records of all Quality Assurance activities.
  • Provide educational and technical assistance to committees and departments in meeting their Quality Assurance objectives.
  • Maintain active involvement in all aspects of clinical space design, construction and hygiene.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities.
  • Justify need for training in Quality Assurance processes and methods and either works with appropriate groups to initiate training or teaches in areas of expertise.
  • Coordinate and monitor all Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals compliance activities and participate in the survey process.
  • Mock surveys coordination.
  • Do an Annual Evaluation of Quality Improvement Program and submits reports to the CEO.
  • Develop training/orientation program for key members to facilitate system expansion and standardization
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as requested by CEO and Medical Director.

Position Requirements/Qualifications

Following are the requirements for the role of Quality Manager at University Hospital Sharjah:

  •  Qualification in healthcare field and post graduation in healthcare/quality management.
  • Experience of at least 10 years in Quality Management and accreditation leading the entire JCI accreditation survey process with completion of at least 3 Joint Commission International Surveys as Head of Quality.
  • Certification in healthcare quality.

Job skills

  • Excellent command of oral and written English.
  • Responsibility for own continued professional growth beyond minimum preparation.
  • An understanding of management objectives and the ability to implement a systems approach.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Has a deep understanding of the standards, measurable elements and intents of the JCI.
  • Maintains continuous knowledge and understanding of JCIA functions and standards.
