Job Description

A job opportunity has arisen at University of Sharjah (UoS) for suitably qualified & experienced candidate for the position of a Public Health Professor. The incumbent will join the department of Family and Community Medicine and Behavioral Sciences, College of Medicine, UoS. The candidate should be specialized in field of public health, preferably complemented by knowledge in related areas, who can lead Center of Excellence in Public Health. This job was recently posted by university’s career page and is open for all nationalities residing in UAE.

Job Purpose of A Public Health Professor

Coordinate the efforts of several research groups, fostering collaboration & facilitating development of joint interdisciplinary projects towards achieving specifically set objectives pertaining to the field of public health.

Job Duties of A Public Health Professor

  • Lead an executive committee comprising research groups / coordinators within the center.
  • Coordinate efforts in epidemiology and public health research to address the UAE’s priority areas in public health research.
  • Facilitate and coordinate collaboration among several research groups to establish joint interdisciplinary projects.
  • Work on achieving specifically set objective pertaining to Public health research of high UAE priority.
  • Promote the center’s mission and vision locally and internationally.
  • Establish national, regional & international collaborations with ministries, community organizations and public health centers worldwide.
  • Secure funding & support from community based, national and international sources for the center.
  • Organize regular training activities aligned with the theme of the center.
  • Ensure training of junior faculty & graduate students in areas related to the Center’s theme.

Qualification & Experience

  • Ph.D. from a recognized university in public health or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in leading public health research centers.
  • Experience in public health, epidemiology and related areas.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • A proven track record of leadership in interdisciplinary research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can effectively interact with staff & faculty at the institute and college.​
